At Collage Maker, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data when you use our Service. The fundamental principle of our service is that your photos never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we don't collect:
- Your Photos: We never store, access, or process your photos on our servers
- Your Collages: All collages are stored locally in your browser
- Personal Identifiable Information: We don't require accounts or collect names, addresses, or contact information
- Photo Content: We don't analyze, track, or scan the content of your images
- Location Data: We don't access or store location data from your photos
2. How Your Data is Stored
Local Browser Storage (IndexedDB)
All your photos and collages are stored in your browser's IndexedDB, which is a local storage system built into your web browser. This means:
- Data stays on your device only
- We cannot access or view your data
- Data persists between sessions unless you clear browser data
- No backups exist on our servers
- Storage limits are determined by your browser
3. Information We DO Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to operate the Service:
Anonymous Usage Analytics
We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the Service, including:
- Pages visited and features used
- Browser type and version
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level only)
- Session duration and interaction patterns
This data is aggregated and anonymous - we cannot identify individual users.
Technical Data
- IP address (for server logs and security purposes)
- Browser user agent string
- Referring website
- Date and time of access
This data is retained temporarily for security, debugging, and performance monitoring.
4. Google Photos Integration
When you choose to use the Google Photos integration feature, the following applies:
Authentication
- We use Google OAuth for authentication
- We request limited access to only view photos you explicitly select
- We do not store your Google credentials
- Access tokens are stored in your session only and expire after use
Photo Import Process
- When you select photos from Google Photos, they are downloaded directly to your browser
- Photos pass through our server temporarily only to facilitate the download (we don't store them)
- Once downloaded, photos are stored in your browser's IndexedDB like uploaded files
- We never retain copies of your Google Photos
Permissions
We request the minimum permissions necessary from Google:
photoslibrary.readonly- Read-only access to photos you select- Profile information (email) - Only to maintain your session
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your Google Account settings.
5. Cookies and Tracking
Essential Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Session management (if signed in with Google)
- Maintaining user preferences
Third-Party Cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

Since all your photo data is stored locally in your browser:
- Your data benefits from your device's security measures
- We recommend using device encryption and secure passwords
- We use HTTPS to encrypt data transmitted between your browser and our servers
- We implement security best practices for our web application
However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Your Photos and Collages
Your photos and collages are stored in your browser indefinitely until you:
- Delete them using the app's delete functions
- Clear your browser data/cache
- Uninstall your browser
We have no ability to delete this data as it's stored only on your device.
Server Logs
Server logs containing IP addresses and access information are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes, then automatically deleted.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request information about data we have collected
- Delete: Clear your browser data to remove all photos and collages
- Opt-Out: Disable cookies or use ad-blocking software
- Revoke: Disconnect Google Photos integration at any time
11. International Users
Our Service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.
12. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
